Role

The role of the Research Associate is to provide our company with information essential to completion of the research phase of the search effort and, ultimately, to the satisfaction of the clients. Though research projects are assigned or approved by the Associate (in conjunction with the Consultant), the Research Consultant should offer insights, interpretations, and direction based on knowledge gained through her/his evolving experience.


 

Duties

  • Use the Ropella proprietary database to retrieve information on prospects, sources, target companies, and prior relevant search work
  • Track and contact all advertised jobs within a niche
  • Identify potential prospects and sources by appropriate directories or by calling target companies and asking for the names of those individuals
  • Confirm, via telephone, the correct titles and telephone numbers of prospects and sources
  • Obtain biographical information on individuals
  • Confirm that Personal Summary Report information is complete and current, and update information in the EZY system as necessary
  • Code candidates identified in the research phase
  • Inputs, into the contact management system, candidates identified in the research phase, when the Executive Assistant for the search team is unable to do so
  • Stay abreast and make others aware of trends and developments in business, and also track changes within specialty areas of interest
  • Obtain appropriate industry specific resources, e.g. directories, magazine articles, accesses external databases, etc. to “get us smart”
  • Use corporate library and outside databases, as requested
  • Assist in business development preparation, as needed
  • Special projects, as needed
  • Participate in team and client meetings, as needed
  • Assist in the development of target lists, as needed
  • Organize and make available to others (Associates, Consultants, and other Research Associates) original research and company breakouts
  • Act as the external database and computerized resource specialist for the office

 

Peripheral Job Functions

  • Review general write-ins and distributes resumes appropriately to Associates for current assignments
  • Read appropriate publications for pertinent information
  • Determine criteria for and performs system runs
  • Assist in sourcing on searches when time permits
  • Participate in discussion of research strategy with Associate and Consultant
  • Provide administrative and clerical support which will contribute to the smooth functioning of the Associate Department

 

Abilities/Requirements

  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to work with a number of different constituencies on a number of simultaneous projects
  • The ideal candidate must have strong phone skills and be adept with computer systems
  • The ideal candidate must be a good communicator - both verbal and written
  • The ideal candidate must be organized, detail-oriented, and able to effectively prioritize
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to conceptualize industry, functions, product/services, modes/methods of operations, organizational structure and their interrelationships within and outside the organization
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to research a company or industry and opportunities
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to become familiar with the SICs that categorize industry by product and service and must be able to use them to develop target lists
  • The ideal candidate must have the ability to synthesize information from one project to the next
  • Undergraduate degree required
