Pat shares his thoughts…
Travel has become a royal pain with the endless delays and the missed flights. Time is money, and my time has been wasted quite a bit in the last 3 months, because of delays that I’ve experienced that are beyond my control.

To keep myself from becoming frustrated and thus unproductive, I’ve decided to be better prepared and actually count on unexpected delays. I’m now bringing along several projects that can be completed with my laptop along with backlogged reading material that I need to catch up on. This way, instead of experiencing frustration while…  View More...

Do You Have Time for Spring?

Author: Robbie Ropella  Posted 2 months, 2 weeks, 2 days, 2 hours, 11 minutes ago.   ShareThis Article

Robbie shares her thoughts…
Spring is in the air… and it’s a time when our hope is renewed. I see flowers popping up out of the ground and green buds on trees beginning to form, and so I know Summer is just around the corner. It’s important that we feel that rejuvenation, not just in the nature all around us, but also in our careers and our families, too.

From a career perspective, for me, time management can be a challenge as there are simply not enough hours in the day to accomplish all that I need to. We…  View More...

People!

Pat shares his thoughts…
I love Spring. For me, Spring is a time to plan and get started on a new year of exciting opportunities. I think one of my favorite things about Spring is the opportunity to hit the tradeshows. We at Ropella maintain a huge network of professionals – especially through tradeshow attendance – so that we can best connect the right companies with the right talent. If you think about it, networking is a big part of our every-day lives. People are our greatest resource. They give us directions to the nearest shopping mall, teach us…  View More...

Is Gun Control the Solution?

Author: Robbie Ropella  Posted 4 months, 1 week, 4 days, 1 hour, 45 minutes ago.   ShareThis Article

Robbie shares her thoughts…
You can hardly turn on the news anymore without hearing individuals discussing the need to pass new gun laws to protect our children. It’s very stressful to hear of innocent children becoming a headline because of the actions of someone mentally unstable.

It is equally disturbing to find out that individuals who do bear arms are being stripped of our rights as citizens. Guns do not kill people, people kill people - whether it is by drunk driving, poison, knives, bombs, or by any other means.  More individuals die from drunk driving and knives…  View More...

The Business of Giving

Pat shares his thoughts…
In the past, and even recently, Capitalism has gotten a bad rap. Some have said that it is motivated by greed and self-interest. But I think this is a short-sighted view of the way business (especially entrepreneurs) really works in our capitalist system. Here at Ropella, we understand that the Golden Rule (treat others how you’d like to be treated) applies to more than just our personal relationships. Business is a two way street. What goes around comes around. That’s why we consider it a part of our corporate DNA to give back to our…  View More...

What Are You Thankful For?

Robbie shares her thoughts…
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I was thinking about what I have to be thankful for. Sometimes we keep ourselves so busy focusing on our day to day responsibilities we fail to step back and count our blessings. Last year, our Pastor challenged us to come up with 10 things we are thankful for each day starting November 1st right up until Thanksgiving. I have decided to implement this into my daily routine this November and below is a snapshot of some in my top 10.

  1. God answers prayer as my mother is still…

Go See Obama’s America: 2016

Pat shares his thoughts…
Do you own a business, and did “you build that?” Are you a patriot and actually proud of our great country? If you believe in the greatness of the American form of democracy and if you dream of a better future, then maybe the following is a good question for you to consider:

Do you think we’ll be better off in 4 more years - or worse off if Barack Obama continues as our president?

Ask yourself: Is this election really just about a Democratic vs. a Republican - or is it about something…  View More...

Turn Off and Relax

Robbie shares her thoughts…
Recently there was an article about a CEO who offered his employees quit a deal. They could have $7,500 to pay for their vacation, but only if they disconnected from work completely.  No emails, no tweets, no calls or work of any kind were allowed while they were on vacation. The goal is to have his employees get away and relax and rejuvenate. While this sounds like it would be easy, it’s not. Bart Lorang, the CEO, mentioned that he even broke his own rules while in Egypt - he couldn’t help but check up…  View More...

Crises, Tragedies, and Preparedness

Pat shares his thoughts…
Recently we launched a new leadership training program called the Talon Leadership Challenge. During this 2 & 1/2 day highly immersive training program, we teach executives how to envision, engage, and execute (during a crisis), so that they can rise above the stress and pressure and successfully navigate the wide variety of challenges they face during any crisis and come out better than expected…and ultimately how to debrief and transfer learning for future crisis possibilities to those they work with.

We had just completed a Challenge Experience only a few days before the horrible…  View More...

I Attended the Talon Challenge

Author: Robbie Ropella  Posted 11 months, 2 weeks, 7 hours, 31 minutes ago.   ShareThis Article

Robbie shares her thoughts…
Just attended the Talon Challenge, which is a unique program on crisis leadership. We were divided up into groups where we became strategic leaders of a fictitious company who experienced various unexpected challenges. As a team, we had to map out our goals and objectives, come up with the proper steps, and then execute our plan. This was a very hands-on experience that taught me a few valuable lessons:

  • Planning is crucial.  Having a plan developed before a crisis/disaster strikes is best. If you live where we do, having a hurricane disaster plan is a…
