Ropella Industry Expertise

Fatigue resistance. Elasticity. Toughness. Resistance to most solvents, including water, acids, and bases. These are a few of the properties that make polypropylene the second-most widely produced plastic. Another advantage that polypropylene offers is that it is a thermoplastic – when subjected to high temperatures, it can be remelted and recycled into new products.

Although it is a thermoplastic, polypropylene is actually relatively heat-resistant – it is durable enough that it is used for microwave- and dishwasher-safe reusable food storage containers. It is also widely used in car batteries (the most consistently recycled product in the country) and so-called “living hinges”. Living hinges are found in high-use pop-tops like ketchup, shampoo, and Tic Tac bottles. Polypropylene is also an important component of weather-resistant apparel on both sides of the spectrum – from thermal underwear to warm-weather clothing that pulls sweat away from the skin.
